Game Recap

Watertown, reeling from a pitching dual loss in the late game on Tuesday, turned around quickly for the dewbuster Wednesday morning. The Purple Tigers turned up the heat behind another impressive outing from a Watertown Pitcher. Junior hurler Lain Hindsley was given the ball, and he turned in a stellar performance spreading 5 hits across a 73 pitch complete game effort. The Purple Tiger hitters purposed to pick up their game and out hit the opponents from Athens, Alabama 7 to 5. Sophomore catcher Matthew Winfree led the way with 2 hits while Brandon Allison, Kannan Akins, Seth Price, Bo Whitlock, and Heath Price all added a hit as well. After trading zeros, Brandon Allison reached the plate in the top of the 3rd after a single from Seth Price and a throwing error on the defense. Senior utility man Bo Whitlock led off the 5th inning with a single to right field. Kolbe Sanders was issued a walk and Jarred Bradshaw bunted the pair to 2nd and 3rd. A ground ball from Heath Price was deep enough to score Whitlock from 3rd base which proved to be the game winner. Hindsley got three ground balls in the 5th followed by double plays in the 6th and the 7th that proved too much for the West Limestone offense to get rolling. Purple Tigers are 1-2 on the season.
